Google has proved once again this week how to lead the way in bringing new technology to the market. Google’s Business Photos will literally take street view indoors. Within a panoramic scene users will be able to view the inside of businesses such as restaurants and hotels. The photos will be visible inside Google Place Pages which they launched last year.
At the moment Google is encouraging business owners to opt in to the service and allowing Google’s own photographers to take the images. London is the only UK location where photo shoots are available. You can apply for a photo shoot here.
Oh, and if any of you are worried about privacy, Google has promised to blur the faces as in street view.
What will the impact of this service be to businesses and business websites? Probably not a huge amount. But what Google Business Photos will do is bring all the media to one point (Google). So you could argue that Google really aren’t just leaders in the market- they are the market.
