For the purpose of the academic year, we have decided to highlight the key areas of this year’s curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils. We will also be showing you our range of educational wall maps while at the same time explaining some generally recognised themes such as World War II, the Saxons & the Vikings and Ancient Egypt & the Aztecs.
Maps can be a great way to teach children about the world they live in as they are bold and brightly coloured enabling each country to be easily identified, look great in classrooms or bedrooms and can be incorporated into tasks or even a game! Below, we will also be showing our maps which identify continents, countries, oceans and different geographical information.

Primary Political Wall Map
World War II
A very important and highly recognised theme for a curriculum is World War II. Our Children’s political map of Europe can be an ideal reference point in explaining historical moments in time such as the German occupation.
The Saxons & the Vikings
The Saxons and the Vikings were also highly recognised theme for this year curriculums. Perfect maps to use for this period of time would be the Children’s political map of Europe and the Children’s political map of Britain. This is because pupils can learn the story of the Saxons & the Vikings travelling from Europe, be given activities on why exactly they came to Britain and where they decided to settle.

The Europe political map can help pupils gain a better understanding of geography in Europe. With the British map, classes can go further into detail and show the pupils exact locations of the settlement.

Ancient Egypt & the Aztecs
Another highly recommended theme for a curriculum is Ancient Egypt & the Aztecs. A perfect map for this would be the primary political world wall map. This map can give an indication of the Aztecs migration, where they travelled and where their final destination was after the migration period.

Large Primary World Wall Map (political)
Teachers will be able to show pupils what countries they travelled to, flags associated with each country and see how they travelled overseas to different continents all that time ago.
Overall, maps can be used for many historic events such as the ones above, other subjects and famous people in the curriculum such as:
- -The Victorians
- The Tudors
- Ancient Rome & Celts
- Ancient Greece
- The great fire of London and
- Medieval Kingdoms.
