James Cracknell and Ben Fogle are currently featuring on BBC 2 in their new challenge, On Thin Ice. Their challenge this time is to race to the South Pole against 5 other (better equipped) teams. Planning is vital and we see Ben and James planning their adventure with the best map of the area, our very own Maps International Antarctica wall map.
The Amundsen Omega 3 South Pole Race, to the far end of the earth, was the first race to the South Pole since Scott and Amundsen’s historic race nearly 100 years ago. Roald Amundsen arrived on Dec. 1911, Robert Scott on Jan. 17 1912.
